THEY only took a break for a couple of years; they were never really gone. In fact, Backstreet Boys are back on the road with a world concert tour that will hit Manila come January 20, 2006. Titled the Never Gone Tour, the concert will be held at the Araneta Coliseum, to promote the group’s album of the same title.
The group that made music history with the release of the album Backstreet Boys (1997), Millennium (1999), Black and Blue (2000) and Hits Chapter One (2001), continues the ride to stardom with the new 12-track album.
“We had been touring nonstop for seven or eight years. We were almost living in a bubble. You need to take care of yourself and be able to reflect. The time off gave us the chance to recharge our batteries and step away and see what has happened to our lives,” says the band member Kevin Richardson.
Indeed, a lot of things have happened to the quintet since their last tour. Brian Littrell was the first Backstreet Boy who became a father. Kevin went to Broadway and London’s West End. Nick Carter put up a solo project. Howie Dorough continued his work with the Dorough Lupus Foundation. And sadly, AJ Maclean went to the rehab.
Five since their last studio album, Backstreet Boys immediately—and eagerly—went into the production of the CD and the subsequent world tour. Their fans are elated. Indeed, the boys are back!
