Upstaging those Boys |
They may have sold 87 million albums, but it was nine-year-old Danielle Logan from Logan City who stole the show when US superstars the Backstreet Boys hit Brisbane yesterday. Singer Nick Carter, who turned 26 yesterday, was serenaded at the band's Brisbane Entertainment Centre sound check by Danielle, who sang Happy Birthday. "She's the star of the show," he told band members and crew, before turning to a beaming Danielle to thank her for the song. "You sang beautifully," he said. Read More | • 29.01.06 | by Talitha |

Backstreet are certainly back |
America's top boyband the Backstreet Boys may have been away for five years, but they still know how to please the fans. With all the talk of the Take That Reunion tour and the rumoured come back of Boyzone, the fact that the Backstreet Boys have returned and stormed the world yet again seems to have gone unnoticed in Britain. Review: as long as you love them |
ALL that screeching could have crashed the Big Dome’s ceiling. Some 10,000 people spent an hour and a half withstanding the high-decibel screams of fans who watched the Backstreet Boys (BSB) in concert Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum. BSB, recognized as the biggest-selling and most popular “boy band” in history, was obviously loved and admired by a predominantly female fan base, who were adolescents when BSB hit international fame 10 years ago. Fans welcome the backstreet boys at Changi airport. |
SINGAPORE : In spite of delays that left fans waiting for hours, the mood at Changi Airport could not be dampened. Hordes of screaming fans screamed louder still upon the arrival of their favourite band - The Backstreet Boys. To show their appreciation, the boys treated fans to an a-capella version of one of their latest hits. Also present at the session were MTV VJ twins May and Choy, who doled out their trademark kisses for every member in the group. The group of five is here for their "Never Gone" concert, titled after their latest album. Coming five years after their previous album, the 12-song album has been much anticipated by fans. The Backstreet Boys will perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Tuesday night. - CNA/ms source: channel news asia | • 23.01.06 | by Annemarie |

The boys are back in town |
(...)At the turn of the century, there was a definite downturn in boyband fortunes. Perhaps it was simply that in a post-September 11 world, the simple joys of the genre - dancing, group harmonies and universal songs of love and longing - suddenly seemed a little vapid. They were, perhaps, the trappings of a more innocent time. "When we were doing what we were doing, people were just listening to great music and great melodies and great songs," says blond '90s pin-up Nick Carter, who was just 13 years old when he joined the nascent Backstreet Boys in 1993. His band went go on to become one of America's biggest groups, the first in US history to sell more than a million records in the first week of release with two consecutive albums. BSB: From boys to men |
They have ceased to be boys (some of them have families of their own), all right, but as far as their loyal fans are concerned the lovable quintet will forever be Backstreet Boys maybe even if, yes, as the Beatles sing, they’re 64. Proof was the throng that filled up the Araneta Coliseum last night at the Boys’ concert, actually their first because when they came years ago they only promoted their first album. Their latest, entitled Never Gone (released by Sony BMG), aptly describes the BSB state of being after all these 13 years. They might have laid low for a while but they were never, never gone. Kate Alexa to join the Backstreet Boys on Tour |
Australian teen singer-songwriter Kate Alexa is counting her lucky stars. She's just been selected as the official support act for US superstars the Backstreet Boys when they tour Australia at the end of this month. To coincide with Kate's addition to the tour her record label, Liberation Music, are rush releasing to radio her third single "All I Hear," which Kate just finished recording in America. With a catchy chorus and hooks galore, it's a single that has smash hit written all over it. Kate's debut in the live arena was last year with teen heart throb Jesse McCartney on his national theatre tour. Kate and her band played to over 15,000 young fans, and made a real connection with her audience - evidence of this can be seen on the cd rom component of her new single "All I Hear" (in stores March 6). TAKE FIVE - Backstreet Boy recalls 'high' life |
IT’S been 14 years since an aviation entrepreneur named Lou Pearlman, inspired by the success of the New Kids on the Block, masterminded the creation of another clean-cut “boy band” called the Backstreet Boys (BSB). BSB is said to be the biggest-selling boy band in history, having broken album and concert sales worldwide. The boy band craze may be over, but what’s confounding is that BSB’s latest CD, “Never Gone,” is still selling by the millions (though not as hot as the previous ones). The group was not yet famous when it came to Manila on a promo tour in the ’90s, so this will be the first time that Pinoy fans will see the boys (now in their late 20s and early 30s) as superstars perform on Friday, Jan. 20 at the Araneta Coliseum. One of BSB’s original members, Alexander James “AJ” McLean, had a phone chat with Inquirer Entertainment and recalled the early days: Read more | • 18.01.06 | by Talitha |

Backstreet boys arouse excitement |
The Backstreet Boys held a concert in Beijing's Capital Gymnasium last night. It was the curtain-raiser to the 2006 concert season. The Backstreet Boys first came to China in 2004 and less than one and a half year's on, they were with us again, giving a hot and exciting performance. Less than 20 percent of the seats were left empty last night. After a series of intense concerts at the end of 2005, the Backstreet Boys still commanded a large audience and were warmly welcomed. McLean finds love |
BACKSTREET BOY star AJ McLEAN has found love again, after splitting with his ex-fiancee SARAH JO MARTIN four years ago (02). McLean had a turbulent relationship with Martin due to his drink and drug addiction and despite finding sobriety in 2001, the couple called off their engagement the following year. The I WANT IT THAT WAY hitmaker, 26, explains, "It didn't work out with my ex-girlfriend, but recently I met the love of my life, KATIE. She's a performer too. "I feel like I'm in first real relationship - I'm clear-headed, I'm not partying and I'm not cheating. "(When I was drinking and taking drugs) I was out of control. Even when my then-girlfriend came on tour with us, I'd sneak off to hotel rooms with other girls." source: contactmusic | • 13.01.06 | by Annemarie |

8. Did you enjoy making a solo album or is it more fun with the guys? -Sarah I enjoy doing both. I think they're two different animals. One, being a Backstreet Boy it's a lot easier because the stress is only 20%. As a solo artist it's a little more diffucult to really focus on me singing the lead vocals, and me singing on the background vocals and making the album exactly what I need it to be. 9. Why did you choose In Christ alone for the first single? Does it have an specifical meaning to you? -Veronika "In Christ Alone" is the song of my life. It's exactly where I am and it's exactly where always wanna be. One of the verses talks about all the accolades and all the trophies really mean nothing without the grace of God and that's why I'm here today because of Christ alone. source: Brian's myspace | • 10.01.06 | by Annemarie |

7. How do you keep your beautiful voice? Do you take voice training? -Sweety I don't know that my voice is always beautiful but...(laughs) I try to take as best care of it as possible. I do a lot of warming up, drinking a lot of hot tea with honey...you know, your voice and your vocal cords and your vocal box is a muscle and it's like working out all the time. 6. Does your CD come out in Germany and will you promote it in Germany (or other international countries)? -Nadja The answer is yes, Nadja. When we were actually on tour in Europe doing the Never Gone tour, which just finished last month, I had the opportunity to meet some of the heads of the distribution companies that will be distributing my record overseas. So I'm very very excited about getting over there and promoting and touring over there as well. On international fans: They're the best. I mean, the European fans have been nothing but greatful and so gracious to my career as a group member and a solo artist. 5. Now, that the Backstreet Boys are back, how are you going to work at both projects or will you be working on just your solo project at the moment? Any chance of you going on tour with this cd? -Mariana Well, I'm kind of doing both. In the offtime that we have had during the holiday season I have been recording and producing and finishing up my record. In January and February I will be traveling with the [Backstreet Boys] to the far east to finish up our Southeast Asia, Australia run of the Never Gone tour. When I get back I will go Mach 10 with my band and hit the promotional circuit in Christian radio and start doing shows. I think it's just a balance. I think I'm working hard as I've ever worked in my life at this particular moment. source: Brian's myspace | • 06.01.06 | by Annemarie |

3. Is this cd only a project or do you have the intention to keep working in Gospel music or other ministries? -Hadassa Hadassa, I signed a 3-4 album deal with Provident Music Group out of Nashville, TN and this is going to be my new home in Christian music. I will always lend myself to help the Backstreet Boys and further our career as a group with touring, promotion and recording albums; but as a solo artist I will forever be in the Christian world. I hope...if they will have me. (laughs) 4. Has any of the other backstreet members helped [or influenced] you with your album? If so,how? -Noncsi Ummm, not really. I hate to say that, but I think they've inspired me in one way. They've allowed me to be who I am in my faith. In the world we live in today, it's hard to be looked at as a Christian, because people look at you funny...so, I would say that the guys have allowed me to be me, which has been a blessing, so that I can futher my aspirations as a Christian artist. source: Brian's myspace | • 05.01.06 | by Annemarie |

1. How do you think that God will bless you and your fans the most with the release of your new album? -Tiff Well, Tiff...can I call you Tiff? (laughs) Tiffany, I think one of the main reasons that I think God has blessed me, and will continue to bless me is because I'm moving forward in my life and doing His work. I'm not really doing my work, I'm doing His work. He's prepared me for this [during] the past 13, 14 years with the Backstreet Boys and has really given me the opportunity to touch people's lives in a spiritual way now, rather than just a positive, pop way. I'm excited about it. 2. How have your wife and son inspired you on this album? Do you feel your songs are a mix of your personal reflection combined with universal themes of gratitude and praise? -Jamie They are Jamie, my whole record is based upon adoration and praise, universal themes as well. I like this question a lot. My son and my wife have completely Tinspired me in ways beyond belief. There's a song [on the album] called "Grace of my Life" which I've dedicated to my wife. There's all kinds of different Gospel songs that I've written with my son in mind. There's a song called "Welcome Home You" which was written in mind about my relationship with my father and my son's relationship with me. I'm excited about it. source: Brian's myspace | • 03.01.06 | by Annemarie |
